Murphy's law puts 4 sprinkler lines running directly in front of vent screw cap. Must dig under to lower sprinkler lines.

Five hours required with the small air chisel to make a hole in the 4" thick concrete.

Vent pipe attached and run, dirt back-filled, concrete hole patched, stone work replaced and flower bed created.

Another coat or two of Sickens. Never too much. Best to keep coating until the logs look nearly plastic. Fill all cracks with stain until it runs out.

Looks almost new.

Rebuild range vent attachment to vent pipe that counter top installers destroyed during their granite installation.

Cut new cedar frames, coat with same 3 coat Sickens formula, and nail up around windows. The windows are sealed behind frames; frames only deco.

'm going to call this wall finished. I see no flaws worth concern at this point.

The five minutes or so admiration is all that comes from weeks of long and very hard work. The wall is restored and better than most people could or would have done. I smile anyway.

Time to hit the corner on the garage that needs new logs.
