San Juan Chamula, MX - Indigenous Village

As unworldly, misty and mysterious as is San Cristobal de las Casas - San Juan Chamula without question takes its fanfare away. With a list of prohibited photo ops a mile long, I elected to use my "nearly broken" camera to capture a few, least it get confiscated or broken as many do. Still inside the pew-less church with over 4000 burning candles, shamans and chicken blood lettings, the mystery of it will have to remain.

These trucks transport many workers into nearby San Cristobal, as the city operated its own transport as well as has a non sovereign police force. One of only a couple in Mexico.

Maya native and tour guide (withheld by request) says that the natives of this region want to be left to their own ways. He asks me why the US evangelicals must try to destroy their culture. I respond "wait a minute; I am on your side".

Nothing in the past like traveling and being blamed for Bush and now the evangelists. (If they only knew!)
