Back to the old grind, chain sawing and dodging hidden nails. The first cut is the most destructive on the chain, as all nails are hidden.

Corners are prone to rot more.

Routine is slightly more complicated to fit the corners in.

You must start at the top and work your way down. Gravity is against you but that is the only way the puzzle fits together.

How to cut a hole for the bolt that holds the new fresh outside part of the half log to the old inside part of the half log.

Cut about 1.5 inches deep with an adjustable circumference wood bit (set to match the size of your dowel cutter with caulking room around it).

Use a grinder to score a notch on a 3/8" dia 12" long drill bit. Make the notch at 7 1/2" from tip. This will be where you stop when drillling. You drill a pilot hole through the logs, stopping just 1/2" short of the thickness of th
