Entry to Guanajuato

It's Mexico's Mexico, perhaps as Austin is to Texas. As I am somehow drawn to the land of the author of the fabled figure I have been penned as, a modern day Don Quixote, ridding the world of various corporate and political evil. Maybe Mexican Nirvana is too strong a definition for this place but certainly one will hear the whispering thought, "we're not in Kansas any more" as one enters this mystical city.

Is it Pingas? I forgot the name and I can't quite read this sign. We had a full lunch which consisted of soup, plate of rice beans and enchiladas, plus desert all for $3.

I am hard pressed to capture this city with my camera. Not so sure I could do much better on all these angles with a very expensive one. I have been lost so many times already, I also lost count. :-)

Now these are the heavy foot path thoroughfares, unlike most of the twisting narrow paths one must navigate when going off up the various paths. (It's Dennis on the right.)

A popular bar Dennis says. He had to stop drinking 22 years ago. Not that he wanted to. I said good for him.

Statues of famous people all over the place. This city once produced 20% of the world's silver supply. As Captain Ron says - Shows!

Actually, lunch wasn't quite ready yet so Dennis takes me here to Mexico chain restaurant "VIPS" for juice and a coke. See Dennis in the background. Gasp - see "Walmart" on the credit card debit machine. :-0

I should hide this one because people who know me know I shun others who keep hitting the same restaurant. Guilty! I went back the second night for chicken flautas. I ordered 7 that came with salad rice and beans all for $3.00. Melt in your mouth, fre

Set in the large room of the restaurant, I stretch my peripheral vision and hearing to the limits. Posting my thoughts on what I heard and saw would also stretch this block's limits. Blog time?
